Anthropic has surpassed OpenAI in market share of business spending for the first time, according to Ramp. This comes after the Trump administration sent a letter demanding Anthropic ban non-Americans from accessing its state-of-the-art models.
The feud between Anthropic and the Trump administration may actually help the AI lab, with Ramp's lead economist Ara Kharazian stating that it could boost business adoption. Anthropic's share of AI subscriptions paid for by businesses rose 2.5 percentage points in May to 41%.
The company's available models, such as Opus, are more popular with businesses than ever before, with the vast majority of spending going towards API calls to the model. Despite the drama with the White House, Anthropic's numbers indicate a strong position in the market.
