Former DTM champion Thomas Preining vented his frustration after finishing ninth in Saturday's race at the Norisring in Nuremberg. The three‑time winner, who drives for Porsche, blamed the car’s lack of speed on the series’ Balance of Performance adjustments rather than on driver error.
Preining told reporters the BoP changes have left his Porsche “catastrophically slow” and “zero fun” to drive, adding that the situation feels “relatively obvious it has nothing to do with sport.” He noted that the disappointment has turned his focus toward his upcoming vacation, implying the current state of the car is unbearable.
The outspoken comments suggest the driver is nearing a breaking point, with Preining hinting he may step away from DTM if the performance gap isn’t addressed. Porsche and the series organizers now face pressure to review the BoP settings before the next round, as the controversy could affect team line‑ups and fan interest.
