Ferrari has secured a filming day on the brand‑new Madrid Formula 1 circuit later this week, giving the team a rare chance to gather on‑track data before the Spanish Grand Prix. The venue will be closed on Thursday while the Scuderia runs the session.
Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will each drive the current SF‑26 during the outing, which race promoters have arranged to verify that the track is performing as expected. The layout includes the distinctive La Monumental banked corner, a feature that could heavily influence car set‑up, ride height and energy management through its high vertical and lateral loads.
The event is classified as a Promotional Event under F1 regulations, allowing two such runs per season. Ferrari used its first allocation at Monza in April, making Madrid its second. The run is capped at 200 km and must use tyres approved for filming days, but otherwise faces no further restrictions. New‑track testing rules and upcoming 2027 tightening mean teams cannot conduct traditional testing at circuits that haven’t hosted a race in the prior two years, nor within 60 days of a competition.
Data from the Madrid session should help Ferrari fine‑tune its setup for the September 11‑13 Grand Prix, particularly around the banked corner’s demands.
