Genesis Magma Racing will roll two GMR‑001 hypercars onto the starting grid of the 94th 24 Hours of Le Mans, marking the South Korean marque’s first foray into the iconic endurance event. The programme was announced in September 2024, the car unveiled three months later, and its 3.2‑litre twin‑turbo V8 first fired in July 2025. Within 500 days the team has logged more than 25,000 km of testing and already contested two FIA WEC rounds – a debut at Imola on 19 April and a points‑scoring finish at Spa on 9 May.
The project leans on ORECA for the chassis, a partnership also used by Alpine and Ford, and is overseen by former F1 boss Cyril Abiteboul alongside chief engineer Justin Taylor, sporting director Gabriele Tarquini and manager Hanouk Abadie. Veteran Le Mans winner André Lotterer leads a driver line‑up that includes Mathieu Jaminet and Paul‑Loup Chatin, who stresses that extensive endurance testing has prepared the crew, even if nothing replicates the 24‑hour grind.

Genesis’ stated aim is modest: both cars should cross the finish line and gain the experience needed to compete at the highest level. While a win remains a longer‑term goal, the team believes its methodical build‑up and seasoned personnel lay a solid foundation for future success.
