Franco Colapinto saw his Barcelona Grand Prix result trimmed after stewards handed him a ten‑second time penalty for not adequately reducing speed when a yellow flag was displayed at Turn 10. The Alpine driver had briefly eased off before the flag but failed to show a discernible slowdown in the sector, prompting the officials to apply a lower‑end sanction and add two penalty points to his record.
The penalty erased three of his four points, moving him from eighth to tenth in the final classification. The reshuffle promoted Racing Bulls teammates Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad into eighth and ninth places respectively. The decision also marked Colapinto's first two penalty points in the past year.
In a separate incident, Williams received two €5,000 fines for operational lapses: one tyre blanket remained on Albon's car at the formation lap start, and a black plastic box was left on the grass near the grid after the 15‑second signal. Both teams will need to tighten pit‑lane procedures ahead of the next race.
