As America celebrates its 250th birthday, the legacy of its founding fathers remains pivotal. John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, despite their differences, shared a conviction in the cause of American independence. Together, they helped unite the 13 colonies and draft the Declaration of Independence.
Their diverging political philosophies led to a significant rift, culminating in the presidential election of 1800. However, they salvaged their friendship through a remarkable correspondence that lasted until their deaths on July 4, 1826.

To commemorate this milestone, War on the Rocks offers two speeches by John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, highlighting their contributions to America's founding. Adams' Inaugural Address praised George Washington and cautioned Americans to protect their hard-won freedoms.
