Siri’s failure to respond on CarPlay rarely stems from the voice assistant itself. The problem usually starts with misconfigured settings on the iPhone, a shaky CarPlay connection, or an infotainment system glitch.
Apple points to several likely culprits. On the phone, Siri’s voice activation can be disabled when locked or restricted under Screen Time settings. A VPN profile may also block Siri’s internet access. If Siri works fine off CarPlay but not in the car, the issue is likely the connection—wired CarPlay may need a different cable, while wireless CarPlay requires both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi with Auto-Join enabled.

Apple’s troubleshooting steps include restarting the iPhone and vehicle, re-pairing the car, and checking for infotainment firmware updates. If the problem persists, the issue might not be Siri at all—volume settings or a broader CarPlay connectivity problem could be to blame.
