Clipto, a San Francisco-based startup with teams in Singapore and Hong Kong, has raised $15 million in an all-equity round at a $250 million post-money valuation. The funding round included investors such as HSG (formerly Sequoia China), GL Ventures, EnvisionX Capital, Palm Drive Capital, and several individual backers.
Clipto indexes videos, audio, images, and documents stored on a user’s computer, allowing searches via natural-language descriptions or AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude. Founder Henry Kang, who has worked on related AI problems for two decades, launched Clipto in 2023 after selling his previous company, ZenVideo, to Tencent in 2020. The product initially targeted video creators but now serves a broader audience, including lawyers, doctors, researchers, and marketers.
The company reports over 30 million users since launch, hundreds of thousands of paying subscribers, and $15 million in annual recurring revenue as of early 2026. Clipto remains profitable on a net-income basis and employs just over 20 people across its three offices. Recent updates include support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling AI agents to access indexed files with user authorization while keeping processing local.
The new funding will support AI model development, computing infrastructure, and deeper integrations with AI agents.
