Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang urged India to accelerate its adoption of artificial intelligence, framing the technology as a new economic platform with urgent timing. Speaking on the sidelines of the G20 Innovation Ministerial, Huang highlighted India’s established IT sector as a foundation for developing a domestic AI ecosystem. He emphasized the need for local companies and startups to adopt, contribute to, and scale AI technologies quickly.
Huang described AI as critical infrastructure and cautioned policymakers against premature regulations focused on hypothetical risks. He compared AI’s development trajectory to automobile safety improvements, arguing for advancing capability and safety simultaneously. Huang noted recent gains in AI reliability, including reduced hallucinations and stronger factual grounding, while stressing corporate responsibility in safe deployment.
The Nvidia chief also dismissed reports of discussions on U.S. semiconductor tariffs during the meeting. Huang co-founded Nvidia in 1993 and has led the company’s pivot from gaming graphics to becoming a dominant supplier of AI chips.
