Microsoft is prepping its sales team to get more competitive with other major AI players. At an internal meeting, executives outlined a plan for salespeople to negatively compare AI products from companies like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic to its own.
The meeting focused on pitching the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of Microsoft’s in-house models against those of its rivals. Executive Vice President Jay Parikh emphasized that Microsoft is selling a full end-to-end system, while others are selling parts.
Microsoft has been swapping OpenAI and Anthropic’s models out of flagship apps in favor of its own, a cost-cutting move. The company has been battling a less-than-optimal stock outlook, and talking up its competitive products is likely an attempt to calm investors and build confidence in Microsoft’s long-term AI plan.
