Lululemon has invested in Syntetica, a French startup that recycles nylon. Syntetica's approach can recycle two types of nylon that are difficult to sort and reuse. The startup aims to produce hundreds of tons of pellets per year, which can be used to make yarn for clothing.
The investment is part of a $30 million Series A round, led by the Ecotechnologies 2 fund managed by Bpifrance. Other investors include EQT Ventures, SWEN Capital Partners, and family offices.
Syntetica's technology could help reduce the amount of clothing that ends up in landfills each year. The startup's partners include Lululemon, Victoria's Secret, and Etam, and it plans to launch a recycling project early next year.
