Chamath Palihapitiya, founder of Social Capital, has announced that his AI coding startup, 8090 Labs, has raised $135 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Salesforce Ventures and included participation from notable investors such as Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Sacks.
Palihapitiya founded 8090 Labs in January 2024 to provide an AI coding agent for corporate programming teams. The company's product, Software Factory, aims to help corporate coders build production-quality software using AI.

With the funding, Palihapitiya will take on the role of CEO, marking his return to a full-time operating position. He believes the current AI rush is reminiscent of the rise of social media during his time at Facebook.
