Apple CEO Tim Cook has warned that the company's devices, including iPhones, may become more expensive due to rising memory and storage chip costs.
The shortage of memory chips, dubbed 'RAMageddon', has been driven by AI's high demand for hardware. Cook described the situation as 'unsustainable' and said price increases are 'unavoidable'.
The iPhone seems likely to be impacted, with research firm TechInsights estimating that Apple would need to add $270 to the next iPhone Pro to maintain its profit margin. The company is expected to launch its next iPhone in September, which could be the first device to see a price increase.
