1Password announced AI Spend and Consumption Management, a new feature inside its SaaS Manager platform that pulls token‑level usage data from Anthropic, Cursor and OpenAI and presents it in a single, real‑time dashboard. The tool is aimed at IT and finance teams that need visibility into how AI services are being consumed across an organization.
Greg Henry, 1Password’s CFO, explained that the shift to per‑token pricing is outpacing traditional seat‑based budgeting, creating surprise invoices and pressure on executives to justify AI spend. He likened the situation to the early days of cloud consumption billing, which later spawned a multi‑billion‑dollar FinOps industry. By normalizing data across vendors, the new dashboard lets companies set spend caps, receive Slack or email alerts, and break down usage by team, user, model and vendor.
The capability is in public preview with a full rollout planned for fall 2026 and carries no extra charge for existing SaaS Manager customers. While automatic throttling is still under evaluation, the added visibility is already helping early adopters, such as ServiceTrade, avoid costly overruns. As token consumption is projected to grow dramatically by 2030, 1Password’s move positions it alongside emerging SaaS‑management rivals tackling the same budgeting challenge.
