Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo admitted he was genuinely impressed after Jack Miller posted a lightning‑quick lap in Friday practice at the Sachsenring. Miller’s time placed him fifth overall, ahead of the championship‑leading Aprilia machines and secured a straight‑through slot for Qualifying 2, while Quartararo’s own best effort left him 15th.
The Frenchman noted his personal lap of 1:20.2 was fast but still about four tenths slower than Miller’s, prompting him to wonder how the Australian achieved the edge. Miller said the tight, twisty circuit exposed the V4 Yamaha’s lack of power, while Quartararo struggled for grip between Turns 4 and 7, describing his own run as “clearly bad.”

Quartararo said the team will dissect Miller’s data to improve settings and riding style for the remainder of the weekend. The other Yamaha riders, Toprak Razgatlıoğlu and Alex Rins, qualified near the back, finishing 19th and 20th respectively, underscoring the challenges the factory faces at the German round. Observers will be watching whether the adjustments close the gap before Saturday’s qualifying.
