KTM has acknowledged an internal engine issue affecting its MotoGP bikes. The problem has caused engines to shut down without warning, including during the Catalunya Grand Prix when Pedro Acosta was leading.
The issue persists despite KTM reducing engine performance, and the company needs approval from rival manufacturers to make changes due to MotoGP's engine development freeze.

KTM motorsport director Pit Beirer stated that the situation is not easy and the company must use the summer break to solve the problem. Aprilia has already given its approval to unseal the RC16 engines, and KTM is working to resolve the issue before the introduction of new 850cc engines in 2027.
