Lewis Hamilton has kept his third-place finish at the British Grand Prix after receiving only a reprimand for a yellow-flag infringement. Hamilton had anticipated a post-race penalty, admitting he didn't see the yellow flag on lap 38.
The stewards felt a driving reprimand was sufficient due to Hamilton's limited time to react to the yellow flag and being distracted by anticipating a counter-attack from Max Verstappen.
Hamilton's retention of the podium means he gains 15 points on championship leader Kimi Antonelli, who dropped out of the top 10 due to a penalty. An equivalent or bigger sanction for Hamilton would have dropped him out of the points.
