Ducati has confirmed Fermín Aldeguer as a key part of its 2027 MotoGP plans, extending his contract and upgrading him to factory-spec machinery when he joins the VR46 team next season. The move comes as Ducati’s 2027 lineup takes shape, with only Marc Márquez retained from the current squad alongside Aldeguer.
Aldeguer’s rookie 2025 season saw six podiums, including a win in Indonesia, but injuries derailed his 2026 campaign. Despite setbacks, Ducati highlighted his “extraordinary talent” and potential, framing the VR46 environment as ideal for his development. The team’s track record with young riders, including multiple world champions, reinforced their confidence in the project.
VR46 team director Alessio Salucci welcomed Aldeguer, noting he’ll ride a factory Desmosedici GP with full support. Ducati Corse general manager Gigi Dall’Igna emphasized Aldeguer’s rapid learning and determination, calling him a long-term investment. Aldeguer aims to return at this weekend’s Aragon round after recovering from injuries.
The 2027 season will introduce 850cc engines and Pirelli tires, with factory-spec bikes receiving quicker updates than satellite machines.
