Ducati Corse general manager Gigi Dall’Igna has dismissed the idea that top MotoGP riders can simply copy each other’s techniques, even with extensive data. Speaking to MCNews.com.au, he emphasized that every rider’s style is distinct and inherently unreplicable.
Dall’Igna pointed to Marc Marquez’s left-corner technique as an example of an uncopyable skill, while Pecco Bagnaia’s braking precision also defies imitation. He added that Fabio di Giannantonio excels in corner speed, highlighting the variability in rider strengths across different phases of a lap.
The comments come as Marquez enters the final ten rounds of the season trailing Jorge Martin by 40 points. The standings also show di Giannantonio just one point behind Marquez in fifth, with Bagnaia eighth. Both Italians will leave Ducati at season’s end, with di Giannantonio joining KTM and Bagnaia signing with Aprilia for the new 850cc/Pirelli era.
