Volkswagen Group is considering closing up to four factories in Germany as part of a restructuring effort. The company's sales in the US and China have been declining, with 2025 being a particularly bad year for Europe's largest automaker.
The company's profits dropped 44 percent to 6.9 billion euros, with operating margins more than halving.
To adapt to the future, Volkswagen may double its previously announced job losses, cutting up to 100,000 jobs in Germany by 2030. The company's EV sales in Europe were strong, but sales in North America and China continue to fall, affected by tariffs.
