A woman in Texas was killed when a Tesla Model 3, operating with its Autopilot feature engaged, crashed into her home. The driver, Michael Butler, told police he was using the automated driving assistance system at the time of the crash.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office is investigating whether Autopilot contributed to the accident. Butler was not intoxicated and is cooperating with the investigation, helping police understand how Tesla's Autopilot feature works.
The crash occurred when Butler failed to stay in his lane, left the road, and struck the residence at a high speed.
