Starlink, SpaceX's leading revenue source, has introduced a $10 monthly hardware fee. This move marks a shift away from the company's previous practice of selling hardware to customers for a one-time charge. The new pricing model includes a monthly kit fee of $10, in addition to Internet service prices, which have also been raised by $5 to $10 per month.
The Starlink hardware kit includes a terminal to receive satellite signals and a router. The monthly kit fee applies to all plans, with prices starting at $55 for 100Mbps, $85 for 200Mbps, and $130 for the 'Max' tier, which can reach speeds of up to 400Mbps.
The introduction of the monthly hardware fee may increase the overall cost for Starlink users, who will need to factor in the additional expense when choosing their plan.
