Spotify has launched Reserved, a new system that identifies and rewards top fans of an artist by holding two tour tickets for them before the general ticket sale opens. The feature is initially available for Premium subscribers in the U.S. and will first be used by artist Role Model.
Reserved aims to combat ticket scalpers and encourage paid subscriptions and engagement with the Spotify app. The system uses signals like streams, shares, and other activity to determine who is a real fan and will monitor activity to prevent bots or AI agents from gaming the stats.
Eligible fans will receive notifications about secured tour tickets starting June 23, and can purchase two tickets before they go on sale to the public. Spotify plans to add more partners over time to include smaller venues and international users.
