Sarvam has secured $234 million in funding, led by HCLTech, valuing the company at $1.5 billion. This investment makes Sarvam India's newest AI unicorn. The company plans to use the funds to develop its AI models and expand its operations.
The funding round also includes investments from Bessemer Venture Partners, Khosla Ventures, and Peak XV Partners. Sarvam aims to raise a total of $300 million for its Series B round.
The investment reflects a broader push by countries and companies to develop sovereign AI capabilities. Sarvam is among a handful of startups attempting to build a full-stack AI business, spanning model development, inference infrastructure, and enterprise applications.
