Russia has asked Apple to remove 1,213 apps from its App Store in 2025, mostly VPN apps that bypass Internet censorship.
The Russian government is building a closed, domestic version of the Internet and wants to ban apps that thwart its censorship efforts.
Russia only wants certain apps banned, while allowing others like VKontakte and the Max messaging app to remain available.
