Mercy Corps Ventures disclosed an investment in ReForest Latam, a Buenos Aires‑based startup that develops projects to restore degraded land in Argentina. The backing was announced as part of the venture arm’s ongoing dealflow targeting climate‑positive enterprises in Latin America.
ReForest Latam’s core mission is to rehabilitate ecosystems that have suffered from deforestation, erosion, or agricultural overuse. By planting native species and implementing soil‑health practices, the company aims to improve biodiversity, sequester carbon and create sustainable livelihoods for local communities. The injection of capital from Mercy Corps Ventures will enable the startup to expand pilot sites, refine its restoration methodology and engage more landowners and NGOs in collaborative efforts.
Industry observers note that financing for restoration projects remains limited, so the new funding could accelerate the scaling of proven techniques across the region. If ReForest Latam can demonstrate measurable ecological and social outcomes, the model may attract additional investors and serve as a template for similar initiatives throughout South America.
