The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has filed a lawsuit against Genesis Tech, a company accused of defrauding consumers through a network of shell companies and hidden assets.
The company's network included several subsidiaries that marketed fitness, nutrition, and other apps to U.S. consumers, generating nearly a quarter of a billion dollars in global revenue from 2023 to 2025.
The FTC alleges that Genesis Tech made it easy for consumers to sign up for auto-renewing subscriptions but difficult to cancel, and would often charge customers without authorization. The company's practices violate the FTC Act and the Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act.
