Feedly, the world’s largest standalone RSS reader, confirmed that the severe slowdown affecting its web app for over a week was due to a bug, not its recent push toward AI‑driven cyber‑threat intelligence. Users on Reddit described the service as “extremely” slow and some paid subscribers reported ignored support tickets.
The issue appears linked to the “Mark as Read” function on accounts with many folders, and a fix was pushed on Friday. In parallel, the iOS app has been failing to load for some users, and the legacy “Feedly Classic” mobile app was retired two weeks ago without prior notice, though it had only a few hundred active users.
CEO Edwin Khodabakchian told TechCrunch that despite the AI pivot, maintaining fast RSS functionality remains a priority for the company’s cyber‑threat‑intelligence community. He said the front‑end team is testing the recent fix and will verify that it resolves the problem for all users, while also promising a quick resolution for the iOS app glitches.
