Circleback, a Y Combinator-backed meeting note-taker, introduced a free subscription tier to compete in a crowded market. The plan allows unlimited meeting transcriptions but limits history to the last 30 days. Users still get mobile and Apple Watch access, AI-powered transcript queries, and integrations with Linear and Slack.
The free tier replaces a previous trial model that saw high user drop-off. Circleback’s paid plans now start at $14 per month (billed annually), down from $20.83, while the free tier adds features like recording and basic AI tools. The company, founded in 2023 and profitable since 2024, boasts $8 million in run-rate revenue with just eight employees.
CEO Ali Haghani said the move is a marketing expense to attract users without relying on ads. He emphasized the company’s ability to compete against larger rivals and dismissed immediate fundraising plans, citing no current bottlenecks.
