Bluesky confirmed its latest outage was caused by a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack that flooded its servers with junk traffic over 24 hours.
The social network said it upgraded defenses in response but did not share additional details. A spokesperson declined to comment further when asked about the incident.
Security researchers in the IFIN public forum reported that Iran-backed attackers claimed responsibility for the attack. This follows a pattern of increased cyberattacks on U.S. targets since the start of the U.S.-Israel-led war earlier this year.
This marks the second major DDoS disruption Bluesky has faced in recent months, after a prolonged series of outages in April. It remains unclear whether the attacks are connected.
