Amazon’s Prime Air drone delivery service will expand to nearly 500 US cities and towns by the end of 2026, up from its current 10 locations. The rollout begins this year with Chicago, Cleveland, Atlanta, Syracuse, and Boise, adding coverage to areas within roughly 175 square miles each. Deliveries in these zones promise 30- to 60-minute windows, though the expansion may heighten concerns over noise from daily drone flights.
The service already operates from Amazon warehouses in 10 cities across seven states, including Phoenix, Tampa, and Detroit. This sixfold growth signals a major push to normalize autonomous air deliveries, but it also tests public acceptance of persistent overhead noise in residential areas.
Amazon has not disclosed a full timeline for the remaining 490 locations, though the rapid expansion suggests a competitive response to rival drone delivery services. Residents in the new metro areas will soon see Prime Air drones in action.
