Red Bull has not handed over the Monaco Grand Prix third place trophy to Alpine's Pierre Gasly as it considers an appeal against the FIA stewards' decision. Gasly was reinstated to third place after a successful right of review hearing, which found that a timing error made by Formula One Management meant that two speeding offences against him were not warranted.
The decision has sparked controversy in F1, with other teams unhappy about the outcome. Red Bull and McLaren have notified the FIA of their intention to appeal, with Red Bull citing a matter of principle in its consideration.
Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies wants clarity from the FIA on how non-appealable penalties are handled during the race. Meanwhile, Mercedes has launched a petition for a right of review over the amended classification, seeking to become an interested party in the proceedings.
