NASCAR and Racing Insights ran more than 25,000 simulations to test the new playoff format ahead of its January unveiling. The data shows drivers seeded in the top six won the championship 85% of the time, while those in the top three claimed the title 69% of the time.
The simulations confirm a clear advantage for higher-seeded drivers, with a defined pathway to the championship even for those outside the top three. The format’s structure appears designed to reward consistency at the front of the field.
NASCAR will officially introduce the revised Chase for the Championship format next month, with teams and fans now able to assess the odds before the season resumes.
