Christopher Bell endured the hardest impact in the four-plus-year history of the NextGen car during his crash on Lap 148 of the NASCAR Cup Series at Michigan International Speedway.
The incident occurred when Chase Elliott broke traction over a bump in Turn 3 and slid up into Bell while racing for second.
The contact shot Bell into the wall, resulting in a significant impact that led to a 21-minute SAFER Barrier repair.
