World champion Marc Marquez has led calls for MotoGP to introduce an extreme weather protocol. The Ducati racer was left feeling drained by the long start procedure before Saturday's sprint race at Brno, where temperatures reached 57°C on the track.
Marquez expressed his dislike for the current system, stating that he hates waiting on the grid with little shelter. Cal Crutchlow also raised concerns about the physically demanding race conditions, suggesting that MotoGP needs to address the issue.
The topic has been discussed before, with suggestions that MotoGP should follow Formula 1's lead in introducing an extreme weather protocol. However, Crutchlow notes that without a riders' union, finding a solution will be challenging.
