McLaren will field a new rotating rear wing named the ‘H-Wing’ at this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix in Monza. The wing’s name references the ‘H’ in Etihad Airways’ branding, which appears on the rear wing as part of the team’s sponsorship. McLaren joins Ferrari and Red Bull in trialing rotating rear wing designs this season, following earlier tests in Hungary and Miami.
The team also plans minor aerodynamic updates and track-specific parts to suit Monza’s long straights and heavy braking zones. Technical Director Neil Houldey highlighted the challenge of balancing drag reduction with energy management, noting that Monza’s layout demands stability and precise energy deployment. McLaren will evaluate a new low-drag rear wing specification, including the H-Wing, before finalizing the setup for Qualifying.

Houldey emphasized that clean practice sessions will be critical to refining the car’s performance. The team aims to maximize the MCL40’s potential ahead of future upgrades, with margins at the front of the grid remaining tight.
