Red Bull will field Liam Lawson in the RB22 for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza after confirming Isack Hadjar will miss another race due to a wrist fracture. Hadjar has been taking a cautious approach to recovery, consulting MotoGP legend Marc Marquez for advice after Marquez’s own complications from a similar injury in 2020. The team emphasized it will not rush his return despite "encouraging progress" in rehabilitation.
Lawson, who made his first RB22 appearance at Zandvoort last weekend, will complete the full weekend schedule in Monza. He finished seventh in the Dutch Grand Prix and called the outing a "useful first reference" in the car. His sprint weekend experience at Zandvoort also gives him a clearer understanding of the RB22’s setup ahead of the Italian race.
Max Verstappen will cede his RB22 to rookie Ayumu Iwasa for Friday practice as part of Red Bull’s obligation to provide four rookie practice outings this season. Yuki Tsunoda will return to the Racing Bulls seat in Lawson’s absence.
