Denny Hamlin narrowed the gap with Tyler Reddick in the NASCAR Cup points standings after the San Diego street course race.
Reddick's chances were hindered when he made contact with teammate Corey Heim and subsequently cut a left-front tire, causing him to fall to 25th place and lose over 20 points.
Hamlin finished 14th, reducing the margin from 19 points to just eight, setting up an intriguing points battle ahead.
