Lewis Hamilton secured pole position for the British Grand Prix sprint race on Friday, a result that caught even the drivers off guard.
Ferrari’s engineering team had entered the weekend expecting a straight‑line disadvantage of roughly six‑tenths of a second to Mercedes, a gap they believed would hinder their qualifying pace.
Despite the projected shortfall, Hamilton’s pole lap defied those expectations, though the race itself ended with Mercedes taking the victory, reaffirming their season‑long dominance.
