Tech3 boss Guenther Steiner has expressed strong opposition to a proposed single-bike rule in MotoGP, set to be introduced in 2027. Steiner believes the rule would damage the sport's spectacle for fans while yielding little to no financial benefits.
The proposed rule has been touted as a cost-saving initiative, but Steiner argues that the savings would be negligible. He questions the logic behind reducing the number of bikes, citing the need for spare parts and mechanics to assemble a second bike in the event of a crash.
Steiner also highlights the potential loss of flag-to-flag races, where riders swap machines when conditions change, as a major casualty of the single-bike rule. He suggests that a budget cap or reduced testing would be more effective solutions for reducing costs in MotoGP.
