Forward Racing secured its first Moto2 podium in a decade at Silverstone, marking a milestone with its own chassis and Alex Escrig’s third-place finish. The result came after four years as an MV Agusta-branded entry and a rocky start as an independent manufacturer in 2023, when the team scored just four points. Forward now sits on 50 points this season, a sharp climb from 28 in 2025.
Team boss Giovanni Cuzari called the podium “epic” given Forward’s David-versus-Goliath odds, with only two bikes on the grid compared to 22 Kalex machines and four Boscoscuros. Escrig, leaving at season’s end for Italtrans, helped deliver the team’s first podium with its own chassis, a feat Cuzari said left him “crying” for 20 seconds in celebration.
Cuzari also predicted Moto2 will follow Moto3’s path toward a single-bike future within three to five years, arguing manufacturers like Forward will “disappear” as the class consolidates. He suggested dividing the grid among leading chassis builders to balance competition and development, though noted wild-card entries currently come at a premium. Escrig enters the final ten rounds in 12th place, while teammate Xabi Zurutuza remains scoreless.
