Formula 1 has cut its carbon footprint by 35% since 2018, equivalent to 100,000 London-to-New York passenger flights. This reduction is part of F1's goal to become 'Net Zero' by 2030.
The 12% reduction last year compared to 2024 was achieved through various measures, including the use of sustainability certificates and practical operational changes. Emissions have fallen 64% at team factories and F1 facilities since 2018.
F1's 'Future Race Operations Programme' aims to move more than 50% of broadcast and related freight from air to sea freight or regional hubs by 2030, which would significantly reduce emissions. This plan is crucial to F1 reaching its net zero target for 2030.
