Nicolo Bulega, the 2026 UK WorldSBK champion, told reporters at Donington that talks to secure a MotoGP ride for 2027 are progressing and could be wrapped up soon. While he continues to chase an unbeaten weekend in the British round, the Italian rider hinted that a contract is close to being finalised.
Bulega explained that stepping up to MotoGP as a rookie means accepting certain sacrifices beyond just salary, noting that he entered negotiations aware that his first year would require compromises. Working with his agency, he said the team is seeking “the perfect solution” for his transition. He also suggested that his departure from the factory Aruba.it Racing Ducati WorldSBK squad would free a coveted seat, recommending that a MotoGP rider left without a ride for 2026 be considered, ideally an Italian, to keep the team competitive.

If the deal materialises, Ducati’s WorldSBK lineup will open up, potentially reshaping the championship battle for 2027. Bulega remains optimistic, stating the negotiations are “close” and that a clear path forward is emerging.
