Sebastien Buemi's Formula E career is under threat due to scheduling clashes with the World Endurance Championship. The 2015-16 Formula E champion may have to miss four of next season's 21 Formula E races due to conflicts with his WEC employer Toyota's events. Buemi is determined to continue his dual racing program, but the clashes in May and July could force him to choose between the two series.
The scheduling conflicts are not new, with Buemi previously missing Formula E races due to WEC clashes. Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds stated that the series prioritizes its own schedule over accommodating drivers who compete in multiple series. Despite this, Buemi remains hopeful that he can find a solution to continue racing in both series.
Other drivers, such as Nyck de Vries, may also be affected by the scheduling clashes. De Vries' Formula E team, Mahindra, is more open to replacing drivers during conflicts, but the situation remains uncertain for now.
