Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas told the media that Cadillac needs to sort out its reliability problems after he and Red Bull’s Sergio Pérez both retired from the Austrian Grand Prix with brake‑fire incidents. The Spielberg event added to a string of setbacks for the American‑backed team, which has been plagued by mechanical failures and operational mistakes throughout the weekend.
On Friday, Pérez’s car suffered an electrical fault that forced him out before the race even began, while Bottas’s car ignited a fire on the front floor tray during the Sunday race. Both incidents were traced to component failures that the team has struggled to resolve.
Bottas warned that without finishing races, the team cannot learn from its mistakes, and he called on Cadillac to prioritize durability upgrades before the next round. The driver’s comments raise questions about the team’s ability to compete consistently as the season progresses.
