Filipe Albuquerque, one of IMSA’s front‑runners, told reporters that the decision by Acura to pause its LMDh effort does not constitute a “downfall” for the GTP category. He stressed that the health of the class depends on the broader manufacturer roster and privateer entries, not on any single brand.
Acura, Honda’s premium marque, will cease factory support of the ARX‑06 at the close of the current season, ending a nine‑year stint in prototype competition that began when the series was still known by a different name. Albuquerque said the remaining manufacturers and the continued interest from independent teams should keep the GTP platform robust and the endurance racing calendar intact.
