MotoGP contender Marco Bezzecchi was released from the hospital on Sunday after his dramatic crash at the Dutch Grand Prix showed no injuries on CT scans and X‑rays. The Aprilia rider lost control on the fast Ramshoek left‑hander on lap two, tumbled through the gravel and reported "extreme pain" before medical scans proved him unhurt. He will travel home later that evening.
Bezzecchi's retirement from the race handed the championship lead to teammate Jorge Martin, whose third‑place finish moved him seven points ahead. The Assen weekend was marked by a spate of severe crashes, with both Gresini Ducati riders also affected. Fermin Aldeguer suffered a fractured vertebra in Friday practice, while Alex Marquez sustained an arm gouge but still managed a fifth‑place finish in the Grand Prix.
Tech3 KTM rider Maverick Vinales described Bezzecchi's crash as "particularly shocking" and noted the difficulty in pinpointing a cause, echoing concerns about riders hitting the gravel at high speed. The incident adds another layer of uncertainty to a weekend already fraught with safety questions.
