The Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL) makes its European debut this Saturday at Imola, where five autonomous single-seaters will compete in the series’ first major on-track event outside the UAE.
Teams are using the new EAV-25 platform, which has closed the gap to human lap times dramatically since its debut. At Imola, the cars have undergone nine days of testing on a track with tighter margins, variable weather, and challenging kerbs. Italian outfit Unimore Racing topped qualifying ahead of Polimove, but the order remains unsettled after TUM’s late pass to win last year’s finale.
A2RL has also addressed past weather vulnerabilities, rolling out a rainproofing kit that seals sensors and vents. The cars have already proven capable in wet and hail conditions, a first for the series.
The five-car race starts at 6:30 PM local time and is free to attend at Imola. Highlights will stream on The Race’s YouTube channel.
