Alex Marquez has been cleared to ride a MotoGP bike for the first time since his accident at Catalunya. The Gresini rider suffered collarbone and vertebra fractures after clipping the back of Pedro Acosta's KTM, which suddenly slowed due to a technical issue.
Marquez required surgery for the complex collarbone fractures and will have his fitness reviewed again after the first practice session. He has been watching footage of the crash as part of his mental recovery, accepting it as part of the job.
Marquez hopes that the runoff area that caused his bike to 'jump' after veering off track will be smoothed out in the future. He is now ninth in the world championship and is expected to join the factory KTM team next season.
