The US Navy has posted a Request For Information to industry, seeking a significant increase in production of its Advanced Emission Suppression Missiles. The Navy is looking for a supplier that can provide up to 600 missiles per year, a doubling of its previous request.
The new missiles are intended to enhance the Navy's capabilities to suppress and neutralize enemy air defenses in contested environments. They should have an advanced anti-radiation seeker and be compatible with the F/A-18 E/F, EA-18G, and F-35 aircraft.
The Navy's current anti-radar missile, the AGM-88 High Speed Anti-Radiation Missile, has a range of up to 80 miles, but the new missiles are expected to have extended range and advanced targeting capabilities.
